Because a single lost set shouldn't eliminate a player who sometimes traveled far: the loser bracket offers a second route to the top 8. It's the format of every Smash major for 15 years, and the one your players expect.

BO3 or BO5?

BO3 in the early rounds to hold the schedule, BO5 from the top 8. Clutch's progressive best-of switches to the right round automatically — nothing to manage on the day.

How do I seed a Smash bracket correctly?

Enable Clutch's ELO auto-seeding: players are ranked from their past results on the platform, and the seeds are spread so they only meet late in the bracket. You can always adjust by hand before publishing.

How do I handle no-shows and DQs?

Check-in (QR on-site or online) filters out absentees before the start, and one-click forfeit advances the bracket without breaking the following matches. A player silent for more than 15 minutes can be forfeited automatically.
